Woodbridge Cruising Club is still thriving, despite the halt on actual social activities. Club members are engaging remotely, with an active social life on line. From virtual music, writing poetry, sharing memories of past voyages, or tips to passing the time on land, it is all still happening.
Club members have a variety of talents, not just sailing. There was a photography competition for all members entitled ‘On My Walk’, so whilst everyone was taking their exercise, they also photographed the Suffolk scenery. Photographs were humorous, whimsical, dramatic or otherwise. The competition was judged by the Commodore, it was a difficult decision, but the winning photograph was ‘Bluebells in Loudham Wood’ which according to the Commodore Phil Wadley , ‘reflected the month of April.’ The photography competition was such a success with numerous entries that it will continue, with the theme of ‘The Garden’. The closing date for the next competition is 16th May and it will be judged by the Vice Commodore, Steven Lines.
The club magazine ‘On Watch’ is an excellent way of staying in touch, and members are sharing seagoing tales of past voyages, enjoying crosswords complied by members, and hearing news of club members. There are cruises planned for the future, and although all cruises are suspended for now, it is hoped some will be able to go ahead.
Do you enjoy all things nautical, and have a boat (whether power or sail), then the cruising club is for you. If you are tempted by the activities ( albeit remotely nowadays) , do check out the club website where full details are found, www.woodbridgecruisingclub.org.
