Suffolk Singers Choral Workshop

Suffolk Singers are pleased to announce another of our popular Choral Workshops on the theme of unaccompanied madrigals and part-songs to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the death of the composer Charles Villiers Stanford.

Under the expert leadership of Claire Weston, our Music Director, renowned soprano, and talented vocal coach, participants will spend a fun and friendly day with like-minded singers from across East Anglia. Whether you are an experienced choir member, new to ensemble singing, or revisiting a past passion there is something for everyone in this wonderfully inclusive learning environment.

Being a professional singer herself gives Claire a unique and specific technical perspective on singing that is not often explored in choral work. Her enthusiasm for learning and exploring vocal technique is infectious and it’s guaranteed that you will leave feeling more sure of how to unlock and enjoy your voice.  Ably assisted by composer and conductor Jamie John Hutchings, all you need to provide is a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to sing and make music.

The day will finish with a free public performance at 4.30pm to showcase what we have learnt to which friends and family are warmly invited. They will also be welcomed to join us as our guests for tea and an amazing spread of cakes at 3.45pm.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, 23 March, from 10am (registration from 9am) until 5pm at Thomas Mills High School, Saxstead Road, Framlingham IP13 9HE.The fee for the day is £25 with students under 18 years admitted free. Singers aged 14 years or under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Participants will be provided with music and refreshments, just bring a soft pencil and a packed lunch
