Street Feast By The River

Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music has teamed up with local restauranteurs for a communal street feast in the new Whisstocks square by the river, opposite the iconic Tide Mill and across the water from the historic Sutton Hoo.

Saturday 31 July 2021, 12-6 pm Whisstocks Square, Woodbridge.

A Community street food event with four pop-ups from Korean Kitchen, The Boathouse, The Cook Shed and The Table and music from DJs Ben Osborne and Jack Hemingway with Ben Goble on saxophone.

Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music has teamed up with local restauranteurs for a communal street feast in the new Whisstocks square by the river, opposite the iconic Tide Mill and across the water from the historic Sutton Hoo.

Based on French Summer Fêtes, which bring towns and villages across France together in the summer, the event will see some of Woodbridge’s finest restaurants and caterers provide street food in the square.

Music and other entertainment is being supplied by DJ team Ben Osborne and Jack Hemingway, the duo behind the DJs at First Light Festival; where 30,000 people dance on the sand.

The free event is being organised by Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music in advance of their festival in the Park, headlined by British Soul and Funk legend Jazzie B of Soul II Soul, on Saturday 4 September.

It is being supported by Woodbridge Town Council and will also feature the launch of a new bar in the square. Plus more to be announced.

“It’s great to have accessible community events like this happening as we come out of the pandemic, especially as so many summer fetes and festivals have been unable happen,” says DJ Ben Osborne. “Our friends on the continent have always been good at doing these type of celebrations, so this will hopefully bring some European holiday vibes to those of us who aren’t getting abroad again this summer.”

About The Restaurants:

Korean Kitchen
A Suffolk lockdown success story, The Korean Kitchen started doing a take away service, delivering meals to a three miles radius, and became an overnight local hit. Founder Jeong-Un’s dishes use local suppliers to make genuine Korean meals using her traditional family recipes. The Boathouse

The Boathouse sits on the old site of Whisstocks Boatyard which dates back to 1926 and was in operation until the 1990s. Emma Cole and team have drawn inspiration from the nautical history of the site, combining the traditional with the contemporary. They also hold Woodbridge Festival’s popular Sunday chill-out events, which attract some of the UK’s leading Balearic DJs and a range of music types
from across the UK.

The Cook’s Shed

An established Woodbridge foodie favourite, The Cook’s Shed prides itself on cooking that is innovative, exciting and delightful. They use the best of seasonal Suffolk ingredients and cook from scratch – baking, fermenting and curing in-house – and forage wild food themselves. Run by Vlad and Matt, Vlad’s cooking heritage goes back to London fine dining in the 90s where he worked alongside Michelin-starred chefs. Matt has had a successful appearance on MasterChef and has worked in world-renowned London restaurants, such as Ottolenghi and Moro.

The Table
The Table’s relaxed brasserie-style restaurant has been a much loved local setting for lunches, dinners, family gatherings, romantic evenings, street food events, coffee and cake, special celebrations, music events and more since 2012. It prides itself on quality food made well, using the best ingredients and served in a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere. The Table’s renowned chef-owner Vernon believes that cooking, at its heart, should be creative and expressive of the seasons and the area.
