Due to the coronavirus emergency we have had to suspend our monthly club meetings. Our last meeting was in March and it seems such a long time since we all met up. I think it’s fair to say that all our members have missed our meetings and the friends we see there.

Obviously this virus is going to be with us for a while yet, and Chris, Sandy and I have had to consider what we think is best for our club going forward over the next few months.

We feel it’s probably best if we don’t meet for the foreseeable future as we realise that the majority of our members fall into the vulnerable group and need to be extra careful. They probably wouldn’t feel comfortable going to a meeting at the present time anyway.

Therefore, we propose that we wait until the end of August and take the government’s advice at the time. If it’s safe to do so, we shall start having meetings in September.

When we resume our meetings we propose having a few months when we don’t invite guest demonstrators. Instead we will have demonstrations done by club members. By doing this we feel we can meet up and enjoy each other’s company for a few hours and have something to look forward to.

Normally any decision like this would go to a vote of club members but at this time it isn’t possible. Consequently so we have tried to come up with a plan that we think you, our members, will be happy with.

As most of you will have realised, this year our club celebrates its 25th anniversary and hopefully we will get the chance to have a suitable celebration once we can meet up. One suggestion is to turn the Christmas party into a really special event to celebrate our anniversary.

The really important thing above all else is that all our members and their families keep healthy and well and we can all meet up again soon.
