Stowmarket Mayor’s Blog

stowmarket Mayor

I can hardly believe that over half of my term as Mayor is already over here in the centre of the Universe also known as Stowmarket.

The month started off with a visit to the SODS Panto “The Wizard of Oz” held at the Regal Theatre. What a great performance – oh yes it was!

The Mayor’s Quiz was a sell-out and raised £600 for my charities AJ’s Legacy and the Stowmarket Relief Trust.

It was a pleasure to visit the Christmas Fayre at the Stowmarket Community Sports and Social Club at Greens Meadow.

My consort and I really enjoyed celebrating the 10th Anniversary and Christmas Lunch of the Redwoods Lunch Club held at Red Gables and thanks must go to Colin Lay and his team as well as the main sponsor of the day Tesco.

We attended several concerts over the month including the Viva Voices Choir; the Cub and Scouts Carol Service; the Stowmarket Concert Band’s Festival Concert; and of course the Town’s Christmas Carol Service held at the Parish Church.

The highlight of the month was joining in with the Jam Community Pot’s Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day. What a wonderful, heartwarming occasion that truly brought the true meaning of Christmas to 100 residents who would otherwise have spent the day on their own.
