Since our last In Touch bulletin, the committee has continued to meet via Zoom. Our enthusiasm for putting on concerts continues to be thwarted by government recommendations. It looks unlikely that we will be able to rehearse together physically until early in the new year, which means that we will not be ready for concerts until the second half of next year.

However, we are still singing! Susie Hyman, our musical director, has found a way to conduct a virtual choir practice via Twitchtv.com. Choir members can tune in to a live choir practice with Susie and her daughter Anna. We can see and hear them in real-time but they can’t see or hear us, and we can’t hear each other, which sounds chaotic, but actually it works pretty well, and you do really feel like you’re at choir practice! We have started with some easy songs to round off this term, but will move onto medleys.

We very much hope to bring you some concerts next year. The much postponed Messiah would make a fitting celebration for our 50th anniversary and we also hope to bring you Songs from Shows and Movies that we would have performed at ‘Old Hall’ in June.

Dates and venues for these concerts will be re-arranged and we will advertise them via local magazines and webpages and on our website and Facebook page when they are confirmed.

Stour Choral Society appreciates your ongoing support and we will be back, raising our voices in joyful harmony as soon as we can.
