A COMMUNITY SHOP FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND RUN BY THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Have you seen the Top 10 Circular Walks booklet in the shop? Frances and her dog Stanley have put together a fantastic illustrated and detailed trail of walks around our area – all starting and finishing at the shop. It’s a brilliant production and will get us all out and about exploring walks we might not have done before. What’s more, Frances has said she will donate proceeds from the sale of the booklet to various local charities, including our community shop with any money received helping our efforts to secure new chillers. So, walking boots on, keep fit and help the shop as well.
We’re looking forward to better days ahead, perhaps opening the Coffee Corner little by little. How wonderful to be able to meet up with friends for coffee and a chat again. We’re also planning a celebration day to mark the ninth anniversary of the opening of the shop. We’re thinking of hot drinks and cakes for our customers to thank them for their support and, what’s more, maybe some outside stalls with books, cakes, flowers for sale and even a few games.

Community Shop Ninth Birthday Celebration Saturday, 10 July, 10am-1pm
How nice that we can now start planning things to look forward to whilst still being conscious of any changes that might be affected by restrictions because of you-know-what.
We look forward to welcoming back some of our volunteers who have been shielding over the past year or so. We would also be pleased to have new volunteers join us; it’s a brilliant way to make friends, learn new skills and be a valuable part of the community. If you have recently moved to the local villages, recently retired, are new in the job market, a student looking to put volunteering on your CV and have that all-important experience, come and see us. You will be working with another experienced volunteer and given training for the job. It would be great to see you.
Our super little shop has lots of farm-fresh goodies on sale, all from local farmers and producers – eggs, cheese, tomatoes and other vegetables, baked bread, cakes and pies – we’re a real farm shop without the high prices of many others. All household goods are also on sale along with pet foods and seeds for wild birds.
We run other services as well: dry-cleaning service, a book exchange, deliveries to people with mobility difficulties and much more. Call in and see us, you’ll receive a warm welcome.
