Pierside Snacks
A very big thank you is due to all our visitors at Pierside Snacks as you are helping us to build funds weekly, which contribute to supporting our plans for Shotley Pier. Pierside Snacks’ autumn schedule is Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30am to 3pm when weather permits. Please check our ShotleyPier Facebook page for regular updates.

The Team
The team was delighted to be able to have two socially distanced face-to-face meetings in September to keep each other up to date and to discuss ideas and possibilities, helping to consolidate all the facets involved in moving plans forward. So much better than emails, texts and messages! The pandemic has slowed things down a little, but we have seen our work come to fruition over the summer.

Our Plan
Our immediate aim is to await final parts to complete the current works on Phase 1, following which we hope to extend the temporary scaffold-style handrails to open up the first section to the public at weekends only, depending on funds available.

Call for Help
The Pierside Snacks food truck needs to be moved morning and evening to and from the pier. If you own a vehicle with a towbar and are willing to help on a rota basis, or as a standby, we would be grateful to hear from you.

Plaques on The Pier
The first plank plaques are being prepared now. Once fitted, they will remain in place for as long as the planks do, so will add a new historic feature. Watch this space for photographs!

Don’t forget that celebratory plaques for the handrails are available to purchase with five lines of text available. HMS Ganges’ Boy Sailors or their families can request an image of the famous Ganges mast to mark their time in training at Shotley. Contact us for prices.

Ask at Pierside Snacks for a form, chat to our volunteers, visit our website or email us at:
