Ipswich Local Group brings to an end our winter season of indoor meetings on 13 April when Kevin Sawford, a well-known wildlife photographer, is speaking about An East Anglian Wildlife Photographer’s Year. Indoor meetings will resume again on 14 September with Jeremy Mynott, the publisher and author, speaking on The Consolation of Nature – Spring in the Time of Corona Virus.
All indoor meetings take place on the second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm in Rushmere St. Andrews Church Hall, The Street, Rushmere, IP5 1DH between September and April (inclusive). Charges, which include refreshments, are £5 for non-members and £3 and £2.80 (concessions) for members of the local group. Young people under 18 (who must be accompanied by an adult) are free. All outdoor meetings, unless specifically stated, are free.
Outdoor meeting will continue throughout the spring and summer and include: Gyppeswyk, Christchurch, and Landseer Parks, Wolves Wood, Newbourne Springs, Kiln Meadow and Spring Wood, Rushmere Common, Landguard Common, Minsmere and not to be forgotten our annual Nightjar walk on Upper Hollesley Common. This is a must as good views of this elusive bird have been seen in recent years.
Walks are expertly led and there is always someone willing to help those less experienced with bird identification. Details of all walks including date, time, meeting place (we always use map references for these to avoid confusion) and suitable clothing etc. can be found by contacting us in any of the ways set out below.
All are welcome at our meetings. Membership of the RSPB, either local or national, is not a requirement.
Further information for both indoor and outdoor meetings can be found on: www.rspb.org.uk/groups/ipswich or find us on Twitter: @IpswichRSPB and on Facebook: RSPB Ipswich Local Group or telephone: 01394 809 236
