The Needham Market WI have celebrated our Centenary birthday by holding an afternoon tea. The afternoon started with guests receiving bubbles on arrival. Our guests included our Mayor, Jo Lea, Representatives of the WI Federation, past presidents, current members and a few husbands too.
Our entertainment for the afternoon was Mel and Derek who sang songs by Flanders and Swann. A good trip down memory lane and everyone joined in with Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud. We were grateful to local businesses for providing prizes for our raffle. These were The Curry House, RJ Smith Butchers, Lilac and Lilys, The Co-op, Coffee, Craft and Moore, Alder Carr Farm Shop, Country Studios at Alder Carr Farm, Neils Hairdresser, Harmony and More, Elton House Newsagents, Roots and Shoots, and Mr Palmer of Bretts Bakers.
From the proceeds we made a donatation to EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospital) and we were lucky to have a volunteer from the Hospice to talk to us about their amazing work. The tables were decorated with wonderful flower arrangements, balloons and table confetti with lovely napkins celebrating the occasion. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious and of course to the highest WI Standards. An amazing display of activities, days out and special occasions from over the years were put together and enjoyed by all. Lots of memories.
Our meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm at the Community Centre. We have a packed and varied programme for 2023 and visitors are always welcome to join us.
