Melton Bowls Club

Despite the challenges of recent years, Melton Bowls Club had some notable successes in 2022 including our members becoming Suffolk County Champions in the Bowls England 4s and Woodbridge League Champions in the Ladies two Wood Pairs, Men’s two Wood Singles and two Wood Mixed Rinks. The club also instigated a program to update some the club facilities which is now complete whilst others are being planned.

The club is now looking forward to getting back to a regular season of playing lawn bowls and as part of that is offering potential new members a chance to come and learn more about the game and the club’s facilities by holding two open days in May 2023. Lawn bowls is a family-friendly game for people of all ages and abilities and is a great way to participate in a sport that combines strategy and tactics with skill in the outdoors. It is great for improving both physical and mental well-being. The game is easy to learn, and beginners can expect to be playing the game competitively within a very short time. Experienced bowlers are also welcome to come and experience the facilities that the club offers and meet club members.

The open days will be held at the club located in Dock Lane, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1PE between 2pm and 4pm on the following days in 2023: Saturday, 14 May and Sunday 27 May. Club members will be on hand at the club to introduce the facilities and provide all equipment needed and instruction on the game.  No need to book just turn up on the day. The only requirement is that shoes with a flat sole and no heel are worn while on the green. There is free parking nearby the club for those arriving by car and refreshments will be available from the club kitchen and bar.

The club has a full program of events arranged for the 2023 season, having entered eight teams in six local leagues as well as County and National Cup competitions. Club competitions, friendly games, and social events are also being organised for 2023.
