Wombles Meet at Community Cafe

On 19 December, the Wombles litter pickers got together for a coffee and chat. We try to do this twice a year. Before Covid we used to get together to litter pick in different areas of Claydon and Barham. But since then we have tended to have our own areas.

For example several people clear up in Station Road. Others do the Old Norwich Road and Pesthouse Lane, just to name a few. The Realm officer at Mid Suffolk District Council provides bags etc which Anne Douglas distributes to those who need them.

Anne has distributed other equipment in the past but has spare if anyone wants to join the group. Sponsors over the years have been Mid Suffolk District Council, Barham Parish Council and The Co-op.

We started off as the Barham and Claydon Wombles as members live in both parishes, although in the past it has been Barham Parish council who have supported us. So it was wonderful this time to welcome Stuart Price  from Claydon Parish Council who was able to offer support to those who pick along Station Road. Casey and Brenda of Barham Parish Council also came to the meeting.

We all enjoyed the social occasion and thanks go to Graham who runs the cafe and welcomed us warmly.

The next get-together will be in the summer. If you are interested contact Anne on: 07952 807 373 / email: womblesbarham@gmail.com
