As the lockdown begins to ease, a few of our members are beginning to feel more confident about going out and meeting up for a socially distanced chat. We still long to get back to having the monthly meetings we are so sadly missing. Our monthly meetings were always lively affairs with plenty of chat, tea and biscuits and an interesting speaker, all in friendly atmosphere.

In the meantime, members are constantly being kept in touch with what’s going on in the WI locally and nationally by emails, magazines, phone calls and the inevitable Zoom links that seem to the lifeline of most organisations today.

While in lockdown, the Suffolk East Federation has been busy planning a tree planting programme, Plant a Tree in 2020. Each WI has been asked to plant a tree in their locality that will enhance the environment. After consultation with Kesgrave Town Council and Kesgrave Conservation Group, it has been agreed that we will plant our Kesgrave WI tree in Pergola Piece, off Pilboroughs Walk. The council has suggested that we should choose from a rowan, an oak or a walnut tree. The final decision will be made by members. Watch this space for news of the actual tree planting which will take place in the autumn.

We hope to hold a Christmas meeting at the beginning of December but this will depend on what the regulations and restrictions are concerning group meetings. Hopefully, we will be able to meet even if we can’t have are usual musical entertainment and sing-along!

We look forward to the future when we all are able to meet again in our normal format and hopefully welcome some new members to join us. For any information regarding Kesgrave WI please contact Di Chilver on 01473 611415.
