At the time of writing, we have entered phase three of lockdown. We have all had to adapt over the last few months, whether it be working from home, home schooling, learning new skills like cutting hair, gardening, baking, new ways of exercising and exploring the fabulous country walks right on our doorstep. The great community spirit has not wavered as Kesgrave residents continue to support each other with food deliveries and other essentials, and it was also wonderful to see that so many of you took to your front gardens to celebrate VE 75 Day on the 8th May.

In the words of our Queen, “The streets are not empty they are filled with the love and care of each other”.

Our doors remain closed to the public until further notice, however this hasn’t stopped things from happening behind the scenes where possible and under strict measures.

While we have been closed, our 12 acres of land and facilities still require attention and we would like to thank our groundsman, Kevin Postma, who continues to work tirelessly in keeping the grounds looking their very best. The closure has also allowed him to spend time on the bowls green and we have to say it looks absolutely amazing. In fact it looks good enough to play bowls on!

Many of you will be pleased to know that we have had a new automatic front door installed. We have listened to our customers and realised that the original doors were not ideal for many to access, especially those with pushchairs and wheelchairs.

We have also been working on a back to work plan for our staff, which includes providing them with the necessary tools required to work remotely if needed, so we can continue to provide a professional service to our customers and a safe transition back to work. We are also ensuring that we have all distancing and protective measures in place for the safety of our staff and customers, providing a safe environment for all in anticipation of the reopening of the centre.

Our new online booking system has been updated so that availability and bookings for each of our function rooms, as well as the indoor and outdoor sports facilities can now be viewed online. This will be an invaluable tool once we are able to take bookings again:

We look forward to seeing you all again very soon, but in the meantime the trustees and staff at KWMCC continue to wish you and your families all the very best and stay alert.

All events and activities are cancelled until further notice, but please check the KWMCC website for any further updates. For more information visit www.kwmcc.co.uk or call 01473 612648.
