Suffolk Libraries have relaunched their third ‘Jumpstart January’ wellbeing campaign for the New Year.
Jumpstart January 2022 will offer free online fitness and wellbeing activities, together with ideas and information to boost your health.
Suffolk Libraries will be working in partnership with Wellbeing Suffolk and local fitness instructors to provide a range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities.
All the activities will be free and are designed to be relaxed and accessible, so people don’t have to worry about having their camera or audio on. Activities include yoga, Pilates, sit and stretch, POUNDfit and wellbeing workshops.
A survey of people who took part in events during the previous Jumpstart January found that 77% felt more motivated and 70% felt happier. 91% also said they had continued some form of physical activity since attending Jumpstart events.
Suffolk Libraries will be sending email updates about Jumpstart January and other health and wellbeing information during the winter. Anyone signing up to the updates will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Fitbit Versa 3 Smart Watch.
James Powell, Marketing and Communications Manager at Suffolk Libraries, said: “Last year we adapted our Jumpstart January campaign for lockdown and it was incredibly popular, giving people a real boost during a very challenging time. This success, coupled with current concerns about COVID-19, has led to us adopting a similar approach for Jumpstart January 2022 with a month packed with free online activities which anyone can enjoy. We hope we can again make a real difference to people and improve their wellbeing at a tricky time for many.”
Julie Chapman, Wellbeing Engagement Worker at Wellbeing Suffolk, added: “Wellbeing Suffolk are delighted to be involved with Suffolk Libraries again this year for their Jumpstart January campaign. January can be a tough time and this campaign is a great way of getting people motivated to take control of their wellbeing. All the sessions we are hosting are online, free and available to all. There really is something for everyone.”
As well as the free online events, Suffolk Libraries is also sharing reading recommendations to help people with their wellbeing including the recently updated ‘Reading Well’ collection.
Full details of events including information on how to book or join in together with a sign-up form to enter the competition can be found at suffolklibraries.co.uk/jumpstart

“Wonderful yoga sessions and Pound Fit sessions helped me get active after years of no exercise. I now walk most days too. The sense that I was part of a community really helped as well.”
“Thank you very much… it has enabled me to get out of my lockdown/ January slump and start the year fitter and healthier (mentally and physically).”
