Engage with artists and experience the arts
After last year’s success, we are pleased to announce the Art Trail will be returning to Ipswich over the weekend of 12/13 September, 10am-4pm.
Ipswich Visual Arts Community presents the Ipswich Town Art Trail in ten venues across the town, featuring exhibitions, art demonstrations, drop-in mini workshops and working artists. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the art and the artists themselves.
Some of the venues on the trail are also part of the Heritage Open Days weekend, when members of the public are invited to view inside buildings with an interesting or culturally important heritage. Visitors to the Ipswich Town Art Trail will get to see wonderful artwork on display against the backdrop of three beautiful heritage buildings, the Unitarian Meeting House, St Clements Arts Centre, and Christchurch Mansion.
In addition, two vibrant art galleries are involved in Ipswich Art Trail – Greenhouse Gallery in St Nicholas Street and MF Gallery in St Helen’s Street. There are quirky spaces to visit too- Le Garagiste, a working Citroen-specialist garage workshop in Bond Street, and The Foto Ginnel (part of a narrow passageway off Clarkson Street). Other venues are the Stoke Bridge Workshops near Stoke Bridge and The Hidden Garden behind the Puzzle Boutique on St. Peters Street. Plus the creative space and print studio AMPP on Dove Street.
Entrance to all venues and art experiences will be FREE and no booking is required.
The Art Trail’s Hub will be in the Buttermarket Centre, where you can get information and pick up a map. The art trail souvenir map/leaflet, designed by Kelly Will, is available at each of the ten venues and online. It features details of each location, as well as symbols for disabled access, public toilets, and parking.
