In June, we reached the end of an era. For just over 50 years the Club met at the Masonic Hall in Ipswich on the last Wednesday of each month for our lunch meeting, where we have enjoyed a good meal and listened to a variety of excellent speakers. Sadly, increasing costs and a membership that has never returned to pre-COVID levels forced the Management Committee to look at other options, in order for the club to remain viable without large increases in annual subscriptions, and meal costs.
The Club will therefore relocate to the Rushmere Bowls Club with effect from the first week of September. Coffee Mornings on the second Wednesday will continue in August but move to the third Wednesday of the month at the Swan, Westerfield, with effect from September. Please note this information, as our website has yet to be updated.
At our last meeting in June we were able to make a presentation to Hannah who has always provided us with a warm welcome at the Club, and to Christine and her staff who have provided so many excellent lunches. Whilst we are sorry to leave, the new location provides easier access for those with mobility issues, and free parking for those coming by car. It is also on a bus route with the stop directly outside.
In the meantime we will have our Summer lunch at the Rushmere Bowls Club on the 21 August, to which we invite partners and friends.
As we move from what passes for Summer this year, into September, if you are recently retired, and looking to spend a convivial time with a group of men from a wide variety of backgrounds, why not come along to one of our meetings as a guest.
