Ipswich and District Probus Club

In Touch Community News

We are now back to the pre-Covid pattern of meeting. On the last Wednesday of each month we meet in the pleasant surroundings of the Masonic Club in Soane Street (opposite Christchurch Park main entrance) for a three course lunch followed by coffee. We assemble in the bar at midday for a pre luncheon drink, and conversation. The lunch is followed by a speaker, and last month we heard about the Felixstowe Flying Boat station which operated for several years, before the port of Felixstowe was established. Looking ahead we shall be welcoming speakers from FIND, the foodbank charity which we support at our April meeting. This will be followed in May by the story of a Suffolk Bevin Boy, and in June by a talk on the devastating floods of 1953. Lunch costs are very reasonable at £23.

We welcome new members, we are a friendly group of men from all walks of life. If you have recently retired, and miss the friendships of colleagues why not give the club a try. The easiest way to test the water, is by coming to our other meeting for coffee at the Westerfield Swan on the second Wednesday of each month when we gather at 11am for a chat, with some staying on for lunch afterwards. Why not give it a try ?

Whilst our regular meetings are for men, we have a number of functions and events during the year including a Barbecue in June, and Summer Lunches in July and August to which wives and guests are invited.
