In December, we welcomed wives, partners and friends for our Annual Christmas Lunch which was much enjoyed by all who attended. It concluded as tradition dictated, with the singing of carols and Christmas songs. This was the third event in the year with a wider attendance, and  it made for three very enjoyable lunches when we include the Summer Lunches.

I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year. Now is the time to make that resolution to come and join us. We have welcomed several new members in recent months, and there is room for plenty more.

We are looking forward to our speaker in February, who will talk to us about the building of the replica of the Anglo-Saxon Ship discovered in the burial mounds at Sutton Hoo. If you saw the film ‘The Dig’ you will know that the discovery also uncovered some stunning artifacts which can be seen at the Exhibition Hall at Sutton Hoo. The replica is being constructed in Woodbridge next to the Woodbridge Museum, and when seen in the flesh is surprisingly big. We have a treat in store.

During 2024, we shall continue our regular lunch meetings on the last Wednesday of each month in the pleasant surroundings of the Masonic Club in Soane Street. We have a three-course lunch followed by coffee. We assemble in the bar at midday for a pre-luncheon drink, and conversation. Lunch costs are very reasonable at £27, which includes a chance to win something in our monthly raffle, and the annual subscription is only £25.

You will be made very welcome and we are a friendly group of men from all walks of life. On the second Wednesday of each month, some of us meet at the Westerfield Swan, 11am for a coffee and conversation. Come along and get to meet us there in less formal surroundings.
