The sun comes up: the sun goes down. We are all coping in a different world. Just six months ago we had no inkling that our certainty about our way of life was so fragile. Now is the time for community to be cherished as a ‘thing’.

Martlesham Heath Country Market members want to make a come-back as part of that community as soon as we can but the Pavilion, so far, remains closed. The hoped-for September opening may yet happen so please keep your eyes open for notices: we will initially be there on Tuesday mornings from 10-11.15am as soon as we can.

Meanwhile, we are looking for more cooks to join our cheerful team. Have you discovered a previously unrecognised talent for baking during lockdown? Would you like to do more cooking – and sell your produce?

Members of our co-operative include people of all ages, proclivities and backgrounds. We make whole meals and starters, mains and deserts; we make treats; we make jams, biscuits, pickles, preserves, special requests, commissioned cakes and other culinary delights. Gluten-free, organic, nut-free and vegan goodies are all within our kitchen-aces’ remit. What you need to do to find out more is phone Margaret on 01473 623849. It’s helpful if you already hold a health and hygiene certificate but we can help with that if you don’t. Don’t be shy: give Margaret a call now.

Crafts to sell, garden produce, painted pots and pretty cards, beaded jewellery, bags, quilts, scarves, beautiful knitting and crochet work, hand-turned wooden bowls and lots of other locally produced and unusual things for gifts or daily use for a friend or neighbour or for yourself – we’ve got lots! The tables will be groaning with the weight of all the lovely things we’ve been baking and making.

We’re missing you, our wonderful friends and customers. We’d like to bring a bit more certainty back into our lives: we’ll see you again soon!
