Holbrook Parish Council

We have an update from the lovely councillors at the Holbrook Parish Council

The annual parish meeting took place via Zoom on April 14 and was attended by representatives of many local organisations who provided reports and information to attendees.

The chairman of the parish council paid two years’ peppercorn rent (two Holbrook Reeds) to the headmaster of the Royal Hospital School for the lease of the Reade Field and reported on last year’s activities and current and future projects.

Members of the parish council are in the process of developing a village plan, which will be quite different from the Neighbourhood Plan. The latter is progressing well and is now on the home stretch, with several stages to go through before it is finally adopted. Huge thanks go to the team of people who have worked so hard on the Neighbourhood Plan. The PC is also working with the local police and Highways to try and reduce speeding and increase road safety. One step is to form a Community Speedwatch group and several volunteers have now come forward. The next step will be to organise training. The PC has also applied to have an Automatic Number Plate Recognition Device in Holbrook when the scheme is up and running.

On a lighter note, the parish council is planning a fun afternoon on Saturday 3 July to celebrate the opening of the new equipment on Reade Field. It is hoped that local organisations will join us to celebrate this and the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Plans are still underway but there will be a barbecue and drinks can be purchased from The Swan.

More details will follow.

The next few meetings of the parish council will be on June 21, July 19, August 16 and September 20 and will be held at Holbrook Village Hall at 7.30pm.
