What a year we have had at Little Foresters Preschool in Onehouse! Things started quietly enough with plenty of fun activities, including den building, tree climbing and baking.
The damp weather of October led to the discovery of lots of fungi in the woods. We had lots of fun looking for different types – always looking but not touching.
Halloween saw a fantastic session in the woods. We made potions, flew on broomsticks and made webs to catch flies, topped off with a warming cup of hot chocolate.
The woods have been extremely muddy this winter, which has meant fun, fun, fun! Puddle jumping, mud slides and getting stuck. Our puddle suits have come in very handy.
Ofsted paid us a visit just before Christmas and we were graded as ‘good’. This then led to us making it into the local newspaper and onto the radio.
Our Christmas activities included decorating a tree at the Christmas Tree Festival and having a teddy tombola stall at the light switch-on, which was a great success.
The spring term included some windy weather where we made some wind catchers and took them onto the park. We also had a messy sharing session for parents and grandparents!
Our fun was halted in March when we had to close due to the Covid-19 virus. We kept in touch by having daily activities on our Facebook page, giving us ideas for things to do. We also had weekly Zoom meetings, two staff members and a group of children, so we could talk to each other.
Some of us were able to start back in June. Things are a little bit different, but we have still had fun, spending lots of time in the woods and in our garden.
