It has been a busy half term at Chilton Primary School. Since June 1, we have continued to welcome pupils back to school. Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 5 classes have been in school for the past few weeks and children in all year groups have had the opportunity to attend school for a least one week.

Some of our Year 6 pupils returned to take part in Bikeability training. Over the course of two days, pupils learned how to handle their bike and how to ride safely on the roads. All those who took part achieved both Level 1 and 2. Well done! A big thank you to John and Helen for running these sessions.

Our junior road safety officers, Ania, Casey, Julija and Nicole, were delighted to achieve a Gold Award in the JRSO scheme in recognition of their hard work this year. They requested the repainting of the safety markings at the front of the school, patrolled the school car park and gave regular road safety awareness assemblies.

We were pleased to receive a generous donation of stationery and hand care items from Tesco Stowmarket. They will be put to good use when we return in September. Our thanks to Tesco for their continued support.

We said goodbye to our Year 6 pupils as they returned for a final week at Chilton. They took part in a socially distanced sports day with traditional races and activities. Pupils were pleased to finally receive their leavers’ hoodies and each child was given a group class photograph, a gift from The Friends of Chilton, as a reminder of their time with us. We wish our Year 6 pupils well as they head off to high school.

We hope all our families have a happy and safe summer and look forward to seeing everyone back at school in September along with our new Reception pupils.
