Alison Watson, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Home-Start in Suffolk said “We are absolutely delighted that the auction has been such a success! When we started this venture, we were hoping it would be popular, but we have been overwhelmed by the response and are beyond thrilled with the final total raised!”

The idea of launching an art auction came when we had to move our main fundraising event, The Moonlight Ball to next year leaving us with 2 amazing pieces of art that had been kindly donated for the event.

“With all our events being cancelled this year we have a huge fundraising deficit of £75,000.” Alison explained. “We have had to come up with new innovative ways to try to raise these funds and so we set about hosting our own online art auction to sell, initially, these 2 original pieces. Then with the help of our network of ambassadors, we set to work, calling for more support in sourcing new artwork for the auction.”

The auction saw record numbers visiting the website page set up specifically for the event and the team at Home-Start couldn’t be more pleased with the enthusiasm and excitement that the auction has generated.

The items that proved most popular were of course the striking piece entitled “Contagious” by the elusive artist known as “The Hat”; the 4 stunning pieces kindly donated by local artist Theronda Hoffman; The breath-taking painting entitled The Blue Wreck by Allan Williams; and of course that amazing limited edition signed book donated by Anthony Horowitz OBE!
